Thank You Sally

I am posting this late Wednesday afternoon after my grant proposal writing workshop here at the library.  I can only imagine there are kittens already born waiting for me when I get home:)  Thank you Sally for the gas to get to Columbus with them.  I will be taking them first thing in the morning, if she hasn't moved them where I can't find them.  We have a no kill shelter here in Licking County that is not taking cats at this time.  The math is gargantuous...no cats in, no cats out!  It is maddening to try to deal with all this right now.  She (unnamed mama cat) had 3 kittens last year after someone dropped her off between our two houses in May.  I thought she was Johns cat and he thought she was mine!  So there was much assumption on both our parts.  The cats got fed on and off, depending on who had food.  I gave them scraps, and cat food was generously donated for the cause.  The heartbreaking story was inevitable,  2 of them (kittens) killed on the road out in front of my house, will repeat itself, if I don't take her to Cat Welfare and stop the kitty production line.  I am not financially able to neuter the kittens, (spay) her, and if my friend wouldn't have bought me a half tank of gas, this mother cat would have had to wait till after my 2 court hearings April 3rd, and 4th.  Keep your fingers crossed for me dear readership.  I always TRY to do the next best first right thing. 

Cat Welfare

I may be taking a trip to Cat Welfare this week if I can catch the stray cats that have been hanging around my back door.  I would love to make a donation to this organization when I go.  So if you can send them a donation online, or send me some donated items for their thrift store, I would gladly take them along with me.  My new landlord is tolerant of Syd, but frowns upon the strays that are in our neighborhood.  Syd pays monthly rental to stay with me, but the strays are not welcome to my landlord.  I haven't gotten around to telling her about Stubby and his cat colony and his facebook page.  She is not a cat person, and she would not appreciate my efforts at taking care of the feral cats in my old neighborhood.  Time is important as Cat Welfare does not accept full grown cats.  These little guys were born in May and are still kittenish, but in a couple months they will not qualify.

Necessary Surgery

This is an ad that my neighbor put together for me as I have inherited Stubby the cat who needs this necessary surgery. Please help out if you can. I think he will live longer if he is altered. He is getting beat up quite often in his pursuit of love. When my neighbors move, I think Stubby will probably stay around here. What can I say? I am a Leo. This property is definitely Leo land.

Stubby's Neuter Fund

Stubby is a friendly semi-feral male cat that lives in our neighborhood. Stubby showed up one day in 2010. He got his name due to his tail being only half as long as the typical cat's. In spite of his shortcomings, Stubby still thinks himself quite the ladies man. He has been getting in tussles with other cats in the neighborhood and getting beaten up by bigger rivals.

My neighbor would like to have him fixed with the help of the Cat Welfare Association. Even with the help, the cost of neutering Stubby will be $55. So we are turning to our friends to give a little to help Stubby live a more relaxed life.

There are lots of causes on facebook, but here is one where you can see results. For a few bucks, you will contribute to preventing cat over-population in Columbus, and helping Stubby live a longer life.
